My choosing of being a teacher

Most of parents used to say their children that they should study a career that give them great opportunities of incomes on the future, and they talk of careers like lawyers, doctors, engineers, etc. But to me no one told me what to choose, or recommended me what to do, so I chose be a teacher of English. And I am proud of have chosen this profession, and reasons like the smile of a person who learned something new, the courage of continue studying of a fifty years old man, and the rain of question of children eager to learn made me chose it.

Satisfactory smiles are a gift and a sign that either is been learning something, or something is not been understood. A smile is a gift because students let you know that they are learning with you, and they are happy of that. Also a smile, or it could be a laughing too, is the sign that something is not well understood and that they know they are committing an error, and that error make then smile, or laugh. I say this because is what I experienced when I taught for first time.

The devotion of studying of an older man is something to admire. A man who grew up in the country side that did not have the opportunity to study realized about the opportunity to study and he took advantage of that. So, his schedule was from the job to the school and from the school to his house. It is pretty good see people like him who always was trying to participate and to help the others when he could do it.                     

It is wonderful see children eager to learn more. I have had that opportunity to see them and teach them, even when my obligation with the OEI ( Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos) was to teach only adult people, I gave the opportunity to those guys to arrive at the schoolhouse to receive the class. The interest was what motivated me, and I do not regret of have given them that opportunity to those group of children who were in the range of 6 to 14 years old.

In summary, we should not be able to wait for someone else to tell us what to choose in our life, because we are the only ones who can say what we want to be in a future, and the ones who will walk in that way to the future that will be our life until we die.
